ixoliptisSound engineers / music producers

Sound engineers / music producers are at increased risk of developing hearing disorders.

According to the largest study in Greece ("Hearing disorders in professional musicians") almost 42 % of the participants sound engineers are a member of a band or they play an instrument.

This means that there is additional exposure to music apart from the dose they can take from their occupation as such

The type of protection depends on

  • the sound engineer’s field of expertise (e.g. studio work, mixing, mastering,F OH etc)

  • the amount of exposure to music

  • the hearing status of the professional (flat hearing loss, down sloaping hearing loss or no loss at all)

IMPORTANT:

Hearing screening is very important for sound engineers as the ear is their “main instrument” for their work.

REMEMBER:

Hearing loss due to noise or music exposure is preventable but when occurred it is irreversible.

The good news are that even in the case of hearing loss, there are options to perform better or prevent it from getting worse
